Tips for Wardrobe Selection for Fall Photos

By Vintage Daisy Photography September 26, 2016

1. Choose a palette of complimentary colors rather than having everyone in the same color. Pick a single color from that palette to integrate into everyone's outfit to tie it all together.

2. Avoid stiff materials that don't move. Instead choose materials that are flowing and move with your body. Materials with texture photograph amazingly too and add interest to the image.

3. For outdoor photos in the fall, think about the natural colors of your venue and coordinate outfits whose colors compliment that venue. With the naturally bold, rich colors of fall, I love to integrate blues, tan colors or mustard yellow into the color palette. A little pop of purple can be beautiful with the right coordinating colors too!

4. Be comfortable! While wardrobe selection makes a big difference in the outcome of your photos, it shouldn't be a stressful experience either. It's important to be comfortable too. If you aren't comfortable in what you are wearing it usually will show and that can create awkward photos!

About Vintage Daisy:

I'm a custom childhood and family photographer offering my clients a premium experience. I don't give my clients a drive through experience but rather, take the time to walk through the details of their shoot with them, focusing on elements such as wardrobe, venue selection, stylization any special requests, product options etc. I like to make that initial contact so I can get to know who I am photographing and ensure the shoot is fun and enjoyable and most importantly, that we capture beautiful memories. I provide an in person post shoot reveal session to my clients as well which allows me to help each my clients make decisions on which products will best suit their family and beautifully display their new artwork in their home. I often assist with making decisions on which products will best complement the style and decor of their home as well and provide samples of each of my products so my clients can see and touch everything before making decisions. Of course all of my images are thoroughly hand edited from scratch ( I don't use commercial actions) which means that my clients will get pieces of art that are unique to them.
