You all know I have a special place in my heart for mama's out there working hard to get their own businesses off the ground. I am so thrilled today to introduce you to Mary Lauren the owner of Belles and Bugs. Mary Lauren has a great story that you can read in her own words!
When I had my daughter, I wanted to dress her up in cute outfits. Everything was so expensive that when I bought quality clothes for her, I would only let her wear them on special occasions, so she would end up wearing them a handful of times a year. That's no fun! As a result, I bought a sewing machine and taught myself how to sew on youtube and google. I had no intention at all of selling children's apparel, but my friends and family started asking if they could buy outfits. It dawned on me that not only could I make my child quality clothes for way less than I could buy them for, I could also sell them for way less than people could buy them for at boutiques and trunk shows. And that is how my etsy site was born...www.bellesandbugs.etsy.com. I came up with the name Belles & Bugs because these dresses are meant to work on any occasion...dressing up as belles or playing in the dirt like bugs. They are totally machine washable. This month marks a year of selling outfits to people across the country, and I have sold somewhere between 200-300 items.
Mary Lauren made my daughter a dress and that super cute shirt you see in the picture with the big ol' cute M on it! The clothes are adorable! Mary Lauren's love for what she does really comes through in the garments and the time she takes with clients. She worked with me to find the style and colors that I wanted (my daughter is super picky about her clothes and has a little bit of a pink issue in that it is all she will wear)
