Carowinds is Open!

It's Carowinds opening week and they have added something wild to the mix this year! New this year at Carowinds is Dinosaurs Alive, featuring life size dinosaurs, which is sure to delight children and adults. Dinosaurs Alive has thirteen life-like scenes with dino's as tall as 40 feet and 60 feet long (that's a BIG dino!). These life size creatures move, roar and chomp just like the real deal. In addition to the 1000 yard trail kids can help uncover new dinosaurs at the Dino Dig where kids try their hand at becoming paleontologist.



Included in your admission to Dinosaurs Alive (tickets are an additional $5 with your park ticket) is the 3D movie Dinosaurs, Giants of the Patagonia. This action packed film takes viewers on an amazing journey through the Cretaceous peroid.

SCMK was invited for a sneak peek of Dinosaurs Alive and here are our tips to make your visit to Dinosaurs Alive great

• Take the kids potty before you head in. There is only one way in and out so you want to make sure you don't have to make a fast break out of there.
• See the movie. The 3D movie is great, we all learned things we did not know about Dinosaurs and the 3D is great! It may be a little scary for little ones, my 5 year old made it through but there were a couple of scenes that had her snuggle a little closer.
• Dig! Stop at the Dinosaur Dig and let the kids go for it. My kids would have stayed there all day if I let them.
• Read! Take the time to read the information to your kids or have them stop and read it, there is so much to learn inside Dinosaurs Alive.
• Slow down and really take in how huge these creatures are. It is really mind blowing to see dinosaurs life size and imagine what it was like when they roamed the earth.
