As a Kumon parent myself, I empathize with my parents that have to "push" their children to do their daily math and reading work. It's challenging and sometimes I feel like giving up. Then I'm reminded that the end is that my children love to learn, that they love to be challenged and know what to do when they're "uncomfortable" learning something new, that they can analyze difficult situations constructively and that they are not anxious one bit about school assignments or tests and tackling projects. Yes it is worth it! Just think of it this way: Kumon is like brushing teeth or eating green leafy vegetables; you know as an adult the value in doing these things so you "push" your children to do them as well! Better to take the hard road early on and teach good habits when they're in grade school then trying to when they're in middle school. That's at least what I tell myself as a parent. Happy Kumoning students and parents! โ Instructor, Jas Dillard at Kumon of Myers Park (Charlotte, NC).
