Carowinds!

Opening Day is Right Around the Corner!

By SCMK March 17, 2014

Charlotte is a city of many perks; my favorite one? Having an amusement park practically in my backyard. Before living in Charlotte, I had to travel at least two hours to go to any major theme park. This is something we all should be taking advantage of living here in the Queen City. Whether it's simply a hot summer day, Scarowinds, or the new Carowinds in Bloom festival, you can count me in! With opening day right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about getting your tickets!

With the addition of two new and exciting water slides over in Boomerang Bay, a new all-day dining deal, and their week long Bloom festival you don't want to miss a day trip to this fun filled amusement park. Opening day is March 29th and this season is definitely going to be their best one yet.

Tickets are currently being sold for weekends only, with the exception of Carowinds in Bloom Festival April 11th through April 20th. Don't miss out on all the fun this season, go online and purchase your season passes for you and your family now! Passes get you access to over 50 of their different rides and other attractions, free parking, and tons of other benefits. They even offer great deals on payment plans for as low as 6 payments of $14. Once you make that first season pass payment you can start to enjoy the fun!  On March 17th, you can purchase your ticket for the price of a kid's ticket through the spring season. Check out Carowinds for more information on season passes and tickets

Carowinds in Bloom runs April 11th through April 20th. This is an exciting way to start out the season. Entry to the festival is included with your park admission during this week. They will have thousands of flowers in bloom at the park, beer and wine tastings from brewers and vineyards all over North Carolina, performances from the West End String Band, and other creative and fun celebrations for the kids.

This season they are introducing two new water slides over in Boomerang Bay: Surfer's Swell and Dorsal Fin Drop. Both of these slides are 4 stories high! Along with their two new water slides, they also have over 50 different rides you are guaranteed to love. Some of my favorite thriller rollercoasters are the Vortex, the Intimidator, and Nighthawk. They also have plenty of great family friendly rides worth checking out such as: the Windseeker, the Rip Roarin' Rapids, and even an entire children's area called Planet Snoopy.

On top of all the breathtaking rides (literally and figuratively), the food is delicious! They have everything you can think of: funnel cakes, ice cream, pizza, corn dogs, and even Chick-fil-a and other sit down family restaurants. This year, they're offering a dine all daylong deal that you can purchase for just $30. Purchasing this gets you access to food all day long at all of the restaurants in the park.

Carowinds offers the best of everything for the whole family: the best food, the best rides, and the best prices! 2014 is going to be a season you don't want to miss! We all know how brutally hot the summers are here, and what other way would you rather spend them than floating down a lazy river or riding some of the most thrilling coasters around.
