Just a few more weeks and the 12,000 square foot store finally opens in South Park Mall. I am so excited about the store opening you would think I am a little girl! My daughter has dutifully been fixing her dolls up getting them ready to visit the mother ship, she has picked out the outfits and has asked me to make a paper chain to countdown. Why am I such a big fan? American Girl has built an amazing brand that parents can feel good about sharing with their daughters, with dolls that inspire our girls to overcome adversity, learn to reach their dreams, stand up for what they believe in and more, American Girl engages our girls to learn about history through the new BeForever line and offers a line of books that help us talk to our girls about some of the most difficult topics we face as their parents.
The store, opening October 11, 2014 will feature a Doll Hair Salon, Bistro and private party room. The American Girl store will also offer a variety of in-store activities during the year as well as offering birthday parties and other ways to celebrate the special girl in your life. The new Charlotte store, the first is North Carolina (yay for us!) joins flagship stores in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Northern Virginia and more!
What can you do while you wait? Make a reservation for lunch or brunch in the cafe, book your birthday parties or decide what hairstyle your American Girl is going to sport from the hair salon!
American Girl has a great lineup of activities during the opening weekend, free crafts, activities, doll drawings, free gifts (while supplies last) and so much more! Opening weekend hours are Saturday October 11, 9:00 AM-9:00 PM and Sunday October 12, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM. What else do you need to know if you want to head there opening weekend?
You will need a ticket to get in, on Saturday ticket distribution will begin at 7:00 AM and at 8:00 AM on Sunday, there will be a table located outside of the food court, you will need a ticket to get into the store opening weekend. Tickets will be distributed while supplies last. You cannot camp out! Due to fire safety requirements, no one will be permitted to line up until 7:00 AM on Saturday and 8:00 AM on Sunday. If you have a dining reservation you will need to let them know at the ticket table. American Girl does suggest that you head to the Doll Hair Salon first, there are no reservations for hair styling or ear piercing so get your doll set up for her hair do as soon as you get in the store.
I poked around to see how many reservations are still open for that weekend and spaces are very limited, if you want to hang in the Bistro while you are there, call 877-247-5223 to see if there is space on the day and time you want to go.
