Will Painting Pottery at Dish It Out Save Your Life?

By By Robin Reinbold, Owner, Dish It Out Pottery Studio August 7, 2017

No, painting pottery won't save your life, but it may help save your sanity. In today's ever connected, always on the move society, taking an hour or more to sit still and connect with your creative side may be one of the least expensive, most accessible, and truly enjoyable ways to SLOW DOWN AND RELAX.

As a pottery studio owner, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is watching groups of all ages come in, set aside their phones, and talk to each other while they paint. We often have multi-generational groups gathered around a table, making a mess and enjoying the lost art of conversation. I also love the folks who come in alone, and who seem to relish the opportunity to take time for themselves to express their creativity, as well as the moms and dads who bring kids of all ages in to paint. Many of these little ones are often creating special gifts for someone and the pride and excitement of watching them put such love into their creations make cleaning up after them all worthwhile! And don't get me started on the folks who come to us for "date nights." We heart them!

Painting pottery is a process you can't rush, especially if you're putting those three coats of every color on like we tell you to! As a result, when you walk into Dish It Out, you walk in knowing you'll be with us for a while. That alone can slow your heart rate, force you to chill and remember that you actually always liked art.

At Dish It Out, we're open seven days a week and walk ins are always welcome, so you don't need to worry about appointments, schedules, etc. We've got a talented staff of artists who are there to answer your questions, show you techniques (bubble paint, shaving cream, silk screens, etc.) and offer encouragement. We try to make it easy for you to come get creative. We also host parties for kids and adults that are super fun, and since we do most of the work and all the cleanup, we make it easy for busy folks to celebrate! Same goes for group outings (think showers, book club meetings, church groups, and business team building or office outings). Just call us and we'll make you the hero of your group while making it virtually painless to plan the perfect event.

So, while painting pottery might not save your life, it can certainly bring fun and relaxation to it.
