Charlotte's Joy~ A Very Special Holiday Pop Up

Out of an unimaginable situation rose a community of moms who simply wanted to help and asked how can we show our love and support for one of our own? Four moms with small businesses in Charlotte took to a local mom’s Facebook group sharing their talents with members of the group by selling items of choice and donating proceeds to the Robson’s go fund me. Out of the first few came many more who joined in on this grassroots effort until posts for items being sold to benefit the Robson’s go fund me were numbering in the hundreds! After seeing the outpour of love and support from this community the idea of a holiday shopping event was created. With the help of the Peculiar Rabbit this idea soon became a reality, a call for vendors went out in the middle of summer and by summer’s end, fifty local vendors were committed to Charlotte’s JOY Holiday Pop Up.  Since that time over twelve additional vendors have joined in the showing of love for Charlotte and her family. The Charlotte’s JOY Holiday Pop Up event is first and foremost a fundraiser and outpouring of love. 

The Story of Charlotte:

April Robson, a local Charlotte mom, blogger and small business owner, has always been such a light to so many people in the community; so when she posted about her family on her blog A Smidge of This, readers were given a glimpse into the Robson family and their middle daughter Charlotte Robson. Over the last year, April would feature her daughters and her pregnancy with the Robson’s newest addition, baby Locholan. Her posts were always so upbeat and carried such a positive vibe until the end of summer this year. April shared the news that Charlotte was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy and began an Instagram account (@charlottesjoy) chronicling their life and journey. Even with this earth-shattering news, April and Ian, along with the entire Robison family (Camille and baby Lochlan) have chosen to celebrate and focus on the JOY in their lives and thus we felt it only appropriate to name this event Charlotte’s JOY.  

The Event: Saturday Nov. 3rd 9a-3pm at The Peculiar Rabbit (1212 Pecan Avenue)

The Charlotte’s JOY Holiday Pop Up has over sixty local vendors ranging from sweet treats to custom apparel, home decor and even Lilly Pulitzer! Parents can bring their children to our special Breakfast with Santa, visit Santa in Santa’s village and purchase professional photographs of their visit for less than a visit to the mall! Tot Start Tennis will also be on site to entertain children while parents’ shop! Anders Ruff is hosting two make and take craft classes on-site the day of and we will be hosting the first ever Real Moms of Charlotte question & answer session with our panel of local Charlotte celeb moms! In addition to all of these ticketed events the day of, we will also have a silent auction online with all proceeds going to the Robson family.
