5 Habits for Healthy Skin

Let’s face it: sometimes, you can do all the “skin-things” and not see the changes you want. But, having great skin isn’t always about the wash or the latest peel. Oftentimes, you may be missing the mark in other areas of your life and it's taking a toll on your skin. Here are 5 things you can do NOW that will make a big impact - especially in the summer:


1. Hydrate - yes, lotions are great, but if you are outside (or even, indoors) you may not be taking in enough water. Try to drink at least 90oz a day - more if you exercise or spend lots of time outside.

2. Wear sunscreen EVERYWHERE, not just on your face and make sure to reapply every 1-2 hours.

3. Ditch the straw - if you are starting to see pucker lines around your mouth, you are using a straw too much. We know its tempting, but get rid of it as much as possible

4. Eat clean - That’s not to say you can’t indulge, but remember, eating Salmon (rich in Omega 3, vitamin E and zinc) helps with hydrations and reduces inflammation. Avocados and watermelon help with UV damage and contain Vitamin E, too. Walnuts, sunflower seeds, tomatoes and....dark chocolate are packed with antioxidants, too, and will be good for your skin. 

5. I’ll take that cocktail, VIRGIN - whether you like it or not, alcohol is NOT good for your skin. If you are looking bloated or, even sometimes sallow, alcohol might be to blame. 

Prefer to drink for skin health? Green tea reduces redness from sun exposure and the antioxidants reduce free radical damage. 


Obviously, once you’ve done these things, you will also want to schedule a time to come see us. Skip the peels and the abrasive treatments over the summer but do try one of our Vitamin C or Vitamin A facials.
