My daughter and I love to go to shows! We have our full year planned out of shows that will be coming to Charlotte, the dates marked off, and have been front-loading with soundtracks in the car on a regular basis. We recently saw The Six at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and are currently counting down the days for Book of Morman. Local students are able to see live shows at an affordable price thanks to the Student Rush program at Blumenthal. For specific shows, Blumenthal puts aside a specific number of tickets that students can purchase at a steep discount.
How it Works
Students are able to purchase 2 tickets per student ID at the box office on the day of the show. The box office opens 2 hours before the show and tickets are available while they last. You do not get to pick your seats, the box office will give you what they have open. They told us the tickets are usually from season ticket holders who cannot attend a specific performance or unsold seats. You are able to purchase tickets in advance for select shows (we were able to do this for Wicked), you can find that information under the select show on the Student Rush page.
Cost
Prices will vary based on the show, most tickets will be under $30.

Student Rush tickets are currently available for Book of Morman for $25, To Kill a Mockingbird for $25 (may purchase in advance) and AVERY*SUNSHINE & THE BAYLOR PROJECT for $20.
The upcoming season at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is amazing, popular shows that will be here include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, MJ, The Wiz, Beetlejuice, Mean Girls, Peter Pan, Hairspray, and Mama Mia.
