ImaginOn is a whimsical building, perfect for play! Inside this Uptown spot immediately next to the 7th Street Public Market, ImaginOn is a shared space with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. Depending on the day, ImaginOn hosts anywhere from one to three interactive storytime experiences in the Spangler Library with music, puppets, fingerplays and flannel stories to help children master basic literacy skills in a wide range of learning styles.
ImaginOn’s Spangler Library, located on the first floor, offers monthly bilingual storytimes, preschool storytimes, and sensory storytimes; and baby storytimes every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Children ages 7-11, can also visit The Block, a special space reserved just for preteens, with LEGO® tables, self-directed activities and more. Check out the Page Stage, near the book sale and exhibit area, which is designed like an oversized book where younger visitors can select a background and dress-up in costume for their own starring role. As you walk up the ramp, you won’t want to miss the famous Story Jar, an instantly recognizable 40-foot tall spiral structure with more than a hundred unique items to spark the story crafter’s imagination. Located on the second floor is the Teen Loft, where 10-18 year olds can participate in engaging group visits during the school day, receive homework help, hang out with friends, use computers and develop new skills. Teens will also find a large collection of popular fiction for young adults, access to online tutoring, e-books and online resources.
